  • The Truth About Fish Oil vs Flax Seed Oil Revealed
  • There has been a debate going on for many years over the benefits of fish oil vs flax seed oil. While the two corners continue to disagree, all the recent research points to only one winner, unless you are a vegetarian.

Fish oil vs flax seed oil

The research I was alluding to earlier confirms that fish oils are better because the essential omega 3 fats, especially DHA, are not present in flaxseed and are in most cases not converted either. Let me explain.

The type of omega 3 you get from flaxseed oil is called ALA, and despite some views on some websites, it is NOT converted into DHA or EPA very easily and a very recent showed that only 7% gets converted at best (in a healthy adult).

If you are vegetarian and do not eat fish then the whole fish oil vs flax seed oil debate is irrelevant! In that case you should use flaxseed and walnuts too, but be aware you are only getting a fraction of the benefits.

fish oilOf the two main fats, DHA and EPA, DHA is the clear winner. Part of the reason is that if your body needs more EPA, it can very easily convert DHA into it. However, this conversion seldom happens the other way around.

The DHA fats are the only ones converted by your body into a powerful anti-inflammatory chemical and the only fats found in abundance in your brain too.

This results in a lowering of inflammation in your body, also known as the silent killer as it has no symptoms and significantly increases brain health and helps you avoid depression, anxiety and serious dementia conditions like Alzheimer's.

You will also benefit from improved cardiovascular health, better vision and memory, a stronger immune system and powerful anti-cancer properties, especially for breast and prostate cancer.

    The right oil

The most effective fish oils are pure and rich in DHA. The one I and my family take comes from the pristine oceans of New Zealand, some of the purest on earth. Even so, the oils should be molecularly distilled to remove any traces of toxins like arsenic, dioxins and mercury.

Very high DHA levels give very high benefits, so look for at least 270mg of DHA in each 1000mg soft gel.

Now you know the best outcome of the fish oil vs flax seed oil debate, you can select only the finest oils and enjoy the maximum health benefits they have to offer.

My family and I personally buy from a company in New Zealand which produces what I’ve found to be the purest and most effective fish oils available.

    To your good health,
