  • Salmon Fish Oil – Discover Why You Should Avoid This Oil If You Want The Maximum Health Benefits
  •  fish oilIf you want to enjoy the maximum benefits of omega 3 oil, then you should avoid salmon fish oil. This type of supplement is not what it used to be. Find out why here and the best type available today.

Although salmon fish oil used to be healthy and popular, it isn't anymore!

Most of it is from farmed salmon and these are not fed a natural diet, are full of chemicals to keep them alive and turn their flesh pink and have very low levels of the essential omega 3 fats as a result.

I have personally visited a salmon farm and was disgusted by what I saw. The fish were kept in cages and could not even turn around. They were swimming, if you could call it that, in their own faeces, and the whole experience put me off farmed fish for life.

When buying fresh fish, it really is worth it to buy organic if you can, even though it costs more.

So back to fish oil supplements, as you can see, the low levels of omega 3 fats and the high levels of chemicals make salmon fish oil unacceptable. In fact, the most important fat is called DHA and salmon have notoriously low levels of it.

The best species for purity and high DHA omega 3 fats are the New Zealand hoki and the South Pacific tuna.

The oceans around New Zealand are some of the cleanest and most pristine on the planet, far away from industry and shipping lanes. I get my fish oils from a company here and they are some of the purest around, and come from a healthy and sustainable source, not a farm.

Let me explain why the lack of DHA in salmon fish oil is such a problem. These fats are responsible for most of the benefits of fish oil, providing the powerful anti-inflammatory properties and the only ones to significantly improve your brain health and mental well-being.

You want to get a minimum of 500mg a day of these DHA fats, so a standard 1000mg supplement should contain at least 250mg of DHA (2 a day is the normal dose).

Most of the ones on offer have lots of the less useful EPA and little DHA. Check the label or website carefully or you will be robbed of the many benefits.

As you can see, salmon fish oil has had its day, whatever some people would have you believe. Follow the tips here and you can enjoy the purest oils and get the maximum health benefits possible.

My family and I personally buy from a company called Xtend-Life in New Zealand which produces what I’ve found to be the purest and most effective fish oils available.

    To your good health,

    Rich Hawkins
